then there is the sound of music. this one needs no explanation. oh how long it is and i will always let the kids stay up way past there bedtime (wait, do they have one?) to watch this.

and now, pretty new to the cook repertoire of movies is mary poppins. isn't that funny? i don't know why? maybe it was the $20 plus price tag to buy it when the other two are easy to find for 10 and under. but now the boys and i are laughing, singing and captivated all over again. that dick van dyke. man was he the man. loooooooove him!

we loved it so much that for valentines day we got him there is a bird on your head! we are going to gradually build our way up to many more but until then his school library has them and he'll just keep checking different ones out. like this...

strange to think that after 2 yrs of racking my brain trying to find books that henry will dig liam comes home from school with these. man, i have seen and admired these books for so long i just didn't realize these were considered early readers. so it is so awesome to see liam reading to henry and henry just loving it. and the best part about liams inflections is when he is sounding the words out all while trying to use the right punctuation/exclamation is way rad. so thumbs up for these books. they are an all around family pleaser.

i am looking into a mediterranean diet. not really for weight loss reasons. although 7 lbs gone would be nice only to be replaced by tightness. but for overall health reasons. plus my man dug up our yard as my valentines day gift. we are giving vegetable gardening a try. i also want to do blackberries. my grandma had a blackberry bush that made me so happy as a child. i feel bad to say this, but, i think i looked forward to visits at her house because my parents car parked right next to the blackberry bush and i could always sneak a couple. this was off woodruff ave. in bellflower outside my grandparents shack. like the kind you picture when you play mash. hmmm, gardening...where was i? oh, yes. eat less red meat. more colors. and fresh. make it fresh! hence the gardening. tips are welcome. we get very good sunlight. we have a compost bin billy made that will produce some groddy soil any week day now. what'ya think? bold, i know. conquer gardening, cooking, and become overall healthier, in one big swoop.

anyways, who can argue with pasta, eggplant, hummus, olive oil and garlic, wine...cheese! here is what the pyramid for this daily/weekly/monthly intake should look like:

 * holy crap! how good does this sound? now, it was a nice 78 degrees here in so. cal soooo naturally this crispy salad sounds so yum!

 * by the way i grew up with the mindset that meat is dinner. i still do, but it is expensive and pretty gross lately.

2010 so far...

i have been crocheting the heck out of these hearts by belladia. made a baby quilt. a simple, i-made-it over-night quilt.

 i signed on as team mom for liams baseball team (oy vey! Lord help me). Go A's!

oh, and lent is around the corner. adios chocolate! hoping to drop a few pounds in the process.

i cut my own hair. and then my mom fixed it. now i feel like i have the "rachel" circa 95'.

it has been raining. praise God. the rainy days and sunny days around here have been beautiful. i can't complain.

henry is two. and still a boy. such a two year old boy.

i am writing all this down for the sake of writing it. and because my house is quiet.

Outside my window...dark, cool and quiet.

I am thinking...about making my list. and putting it down in writing.

I am thankful for...a good cry. sometimes they come from nowhere but leave you feeling refreshed.

From the kitchen...shrinky dinks. my absolute most favorite quiet craft with the boys. and i don't care how wrong melting plastic in the oven is.

I am wearing...pajamas. shocker.

I am creating...a clean and well organized home. also adding little touches here and there for cozyness, creativity and color. so cheese. but so true.

I am going...to start running again. oh, you didn't know i stopped? yeah i have to pick sewing or running. since i am on a sewing hiatus 'til the new machine comes, running it is. plus the weight gain. oh and i signed up for this little run. the only run i plan to do this year.

I am reading...the lovely bones. it was on sale at target. why not? right. quit rolling your eyes at me. well it is going...i will report back the final verdict.

I am hoping...henry adapts to his new schedule well. that boy can stay up until 11. he is crazy. all while in a dark room with me laying down with him. still awake. tossing and turning. we start between 8 and 9. i don't think starting earlier will do. but maybe an earlier nap time. then an earlier bedtime.

I am hearing...a disney movie.

Around the house...quiet house. laundry is folded now to put it away. Christmas is still up, and will be for a few more days. :)

One of my favorite things...henry. and his haircut. so cute. he looks so much like liam when he was two. plus he is such a cuddly kissy " i'ya'-you mommy" all the time kid.

A few plans for the rest of the week: mom's group starts back up again this week. dr's appointment for henry. liam is back at the old grind so we are re-adjusting. Epiphany lessons and carols at church on friday.

i desperately need to change the setting on my camera before i take anymore pictures. it is set at sizing them at 480x600. not good. i thought it was but now not so much. i'm still learning.

but now i have a brand spanky new sewing machine! perfect since my sweet little beginner janome 405* is being a punk lately. seriously sooooo stoked. i entered to win everything apartment therapy has going for their 2009 holiday giveaway and this is what i won? can you say blessed?

God is so good. oh, this advent has been so filled with many surprises. so many lessons. well here she is. i think i am going to name her "annie-bug" a nickname my mom loathed when she was a wee little lady. well here is to you mom. thanks for teaching me that to make is to love. ha, so cheesy. loves it.
